Our super alloy solution – GC1105

GC1105 – Designed for the challenge
GC1105 provides secure, reliable, quality machining, even flank wear and is truly versatile in all application areas.

Reliability in intermediate stage machining through superior notch wear resistance in combination with good edge line toughness.
Guaranteed accurate high quality performance in last stage machining provided by our razor sharp, ground inserts and our state of the art thin coating, with excellent adhesion.

Insert assortment
GC1105 is available in many different insert geometries from edge rounded inserts for first stage machining to razor sharp edge inserts for last stage machining.

Razor sharp!
Where minimal deformation to the component is critical, we offer razor sharp ground G-tolerance T-Max P and CoroTurn 107 inserts to meet the esential criteria for a quality surface finish.

Minimized distortion and burr formation.
Smoother surface in precision cast components where ‘orange peel’ is a problem.
Excellent in finishing of thin walled components.
Reduced degree of taper and ‘push off’.
Enables precision machining when longer overhangs can not be avoided.

Chip control with -MF geometry
Everyone knows that when machining Heat Resistant Super Alloys it is tough to achieve reasonable chip control. To provide a better chip flow GC1105 is introduced in geometry -MF. It also gives the possibility to use the new grade in other material groups, for example stainless steel, nonferrous materials etc.

Coating and substrate – GC1105

Coating

Unique thin PVD TiAlN coating with excellent adhesion to the substrate even on sharp edges, developed for guaranteed toughness in the edge line, even flank wear and good performance in super alloys and high alloyed stainless steels.

Substrate
Hard, fine grained substrate with excellent hot hardness and thereby good reliable resistance against plastic deformation.

Substrate

GC1105 lives up to the challenge of tough machining

Competitor grade after 3.5 min in cut.
New grade GC1105 after 5 min in cut.

Material:Aged Inconel 718
Depth of cut, ap:1.5mm
Cutting speed, vc:50m/min
Feed rate fn:0.2mm/r

Performance trials carried out on the new GC1105 in a semi roughing operation of aged Inconel 718, an extremely tough material, confirms the significant improvements you get when run against GC1005 and a competitor grade. GC1105 clearly demonstrates its superior wear resistance.

When comparing the wear on the secondary cutting edge, GC1105 outperformed the competitor giving a better surface finish and generating less cutting forces. The grades stability now allows you to machine for longer, with minimal risk of edge breakage due to the superior wear resistance and security provided in the edge line toughness.
