Turning Productivity Theory

Cutting tools represent just a small part of the total production cost, approximately 3%. It is therefore understandable that customers tend to disregard these in their struggle for cost savings. Actually, nothing could be more wrong! Correctly applied cutting tools will significantly reduce the production cost. With modern dedicated geometries and top performing grades for Turning applications we can help the customers to achieve major cost savings.

Higher cutting data
- Increased productivity
Cutting data can be increased in different ways. Cutting speed, feed rate and the use of larger depths of cut are variables that have the biggest impact to improve your productivity and output.

With our top modern 4000 grades for steel machining the
cutting speed (vc) can be increased by at least 20%. Our Wiper inserts make it possible to increase the feed rate (f) by 100% and still keep the same surface finish. With our modern P-line geometries and toolholder system RC, it is possible to reduce the number of cuts by taking bigger depth of cuts (ap) without having any problem with chipbreaking and stability.

Correct product and cutting data
- The key to success!

The straightest path to high productivity is to choose the right tool and to apply it correctly. The CoroKey guide is your guiding star.

CoroKey is the unique easy–to–choose system that will guide you to the best possible combination of geometry and grade for your very specific needs. The CoroKey cutting data recommendation is always the right recommendation for highest productivity gains.

Dry Machining

The high level of plastic deformation (PD) of our
new 4000 grades opens up another possibility to save costs through the elimination of coolant. Dry machining is not only beneficial from the environmental point of view but it also means a 7-16% reduction of production costs. GC4015 has the best performance in dry machining.

Reduce number of tools

With CoroCut Tooling System it is possible to use it in turning operations because of its unique stability. That means if using CoroCut in turning operations the number of tools can be reduced and machining time much faster.

Modular tools - Shortest time WINS!

Reduce downtime in your lathes and turning centres. Coromant Capto quick change tooling can give substantial savings and improve your overall productivity. Converting to quick change tooling takes minutes and the immediate benefits are:

SHORTEST DOWNTIMES
For setups, save 50+ hours per year per clamping unit.
SHORTEST MACHINING TIMES
Due to greater stability.
NO TURRET MODIFICATIONS
As easy to mount as conventional tools, but 5 times faster.

You cannot lose — only improve your all-round performance!

Tool Management
- Take control of tooling for maximum return on investment!

Throughout the manufacturing sector, as much as 20 per cent of machinists' time can be spent looking or waiting for tooling. Itīs wasteful; it stifles production and above all, it costs you money!

Itīs also one of the key reasons we created a
tool management system - AutoTAS, a simple and easy-to-use Windows based system that puts you in total control - for maximum tooling availability, utilisation and profit.

AutoTAS simplifies design for production, NC programming, production planning, purchasing, stores and toolroom operation, as well as tool pre-setting and calibrating. Whatīs more, everything is backed by sophisticated reporting procedures that provide detailed information on the complete lifecycle of tools, from initial purchase to ultimate disposal - to support decision making and control production costs.

11 discreet, yet fully integrated, modules enable AutoTAS systems to be tailored to customer needs at both a corporate and individual user level. They also ensure a protected upgrade path for the addition of further functionality to meet changing requirements.

AutoTAS; the power provide the right tools, in the right place, at the right time... in the right condition and at the right price too!
